Omega will offer the Speedmaster Racing watches on both metal bracelets and rubber straps. The cases look great on each to be honest. This is one of those instances where I would recommend having both the strap and the bracelet. Inside the watch is a really exciting movement called the Omega caliber 3330. Based on the previous generation of Speedmaster column-wheel chronograph movements, the caliber 3330 adds two important features. First is a Co-Axial escapement. Omega is trying to have as many of their watches with Co-Axial escapement movements as possible. They were finally able to include that technology here. Also in the movements are silicon hair springs. Taken together, these new movement elements increase the accuracy and longevity of the chronograph movement in an appreciable way. The movements are also COSC Chronometer certified. Price for these beauties is reported to be about $4,000.

This watch is also fitted with a beautiful rubber strap with a thick rubber grain very different to that on other Offshore straps and comes with a tang buckle in stainless steel. This new Omega Seamaster Diver 300m ETNZ special edition can be called a Yachting / Regatta watch because of its specific chronograph function. Let us explain what such a watch is. In the world of yachting races, navigators have to aligned on the starting line – like in every race. However, a boat is not static and the starting line has to be crossed at a certain moment. To help navigators, the organization teams of such races are launching a 5-minute countdown before the start to help the boats to align on the starting line. The WAN2110, like most of Tag Heuer’s 3 hand models, is powered by the Tag Heuer Calibre 5 automatic movement. The Calibre 5 is essentially an ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200 but Tag has apparently dressed it up in some way. As the WAN2110 is not equipped with a display back I am not sure how much this example is really improved upon. That said, this movement keeps excellent time. If averaged out over a week of use (worn during the day left crown down or up at night) this example ran between 0 and +2 seconds a day, making this Tag Heuer one of the most accurate automatics I have ever reviewed. Whatever Tag Heuer does/doesn’t do to the movement is not of any real concern as they certainly have not made it worse. The screw down crown is a problem as there is almost nothing for your finger tips to grip on the edges of the crown so its something of a slippery affair getting the crown to and from its setting positions. Once unscrewed there is very little play or wobble in the stem so time setting and winding are simple enough.
