The so-called "Officer's Style" case has a hinged gold dustcover to protect the sapphire caseback. But, as you would expect from Patek Philippe, adding a simple hinge would be too easy and instead Patek spend two years developing their own invisible hinge so as to keep the clean lines of the Calatrava case intact. When you open the case you can see the caliber 324 SC movement, which features both a Gyromax balance wheel and Spiromax balance spring. And the inside of the dust cover itself features a "Patek Philippe" and PP Hallmark engraving, though after the first series is produced, this cover will be left blank for customers to personalize themselves.

The 39 millimeter Rolex 114300 is bound to be a classic. I don't know about you, but in my mind, this Rolex's dark rhodium dial has a similar aesthetic to the prototype Singer dials notably featured on Rolex Passion Report. To most guys, the bright blue hour transfers wouldn't be such a big deal. I happen to be totally in love with this watch simply because of those hour transfers. Furthermore, a 39 millimeter case diameter is rare for such a no-frills piece. If anything, the 114300 is particularly Milgauss-like, an aspect I applaud. 

All three versions come on a solid 904L steel bracelet with a folding Oysterclasp and are priced from 5,400 CHF. In my opinion a fair price for a stainless steel manufacture watch of high quality. Admitted, it is a watch with not a single complication, but it’s also a watch that you will never get tired of and as written before, a high-quality watch that will keep its value over time as well. The 39mm diameter makes it a very interesting alternative to the 41mm Datejust and Milgauss models as well as to the smaller 36mm versions.
