The Calibre de Cartier Diver is a really well balanced watch, and with black rotating bezel off-setting the dial that mimics the Chronograph. What is so nice about this watch is the overall thinness and great wearability on the wrist – it is surprisingly thin and refined.
Inside the Calibre Diver beats an in-house Cartier movement, the calibre 1904 MC. This was introduced in 2010 in the original Calibre de Cartier. It was Cartier's first true in-house calibre and it is named for the year Cartier introduced the first wristwatch to the market. It uses two barrels for improved consistency in power delivery, has hacking seconds, and uses a bi-directional winding system, all of which help make the 1904 MC a great workhorse of a modern movement. The balance beats at 4Hz and the movement has a 48 hour power reserve. 
Overall, the Calibre Diver presents a pretty appealing package. Aesthetically it carries all the traits of the Calibre family (which, admittedly, might not be for everyone) but it is something new technologically from Cartier. I certainly don't think of Cartier first when I think "tool watch," but the maison has committed itself to producing a real diver that any die-hard can get behind. Finishing on case, dial, and movement are all above average and it's exciting to see Cartier continue to grow as a watchmaker.
