The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation was founded in South Africa 16 years ago. In 2007, IWC Schaffhausen and Mercedes-Benz Switzerland joined forces to establish the Laureus Foundation Switzerland. Laureus focuses on the power of sport to integrate disadvantaged children and adolescents into society more effectively. 10,000 or so young Swiss girls and boys participate in the sports projects on offer, such as Laureus Girls in Sport and Laureus Street Soccer. The foundation raises most of the funding required for these projects with its annual Laureus Charity Night.

IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Unique Piece “Laureus Charity Night Zürich 2016” (Ref. IW397205)
the only watch with a 45-millimetre platinum case, a blue dial and a
special engraving on the case back. This imposing chronograph not only
allows intermediate times to be measured with down-to-the- second
accuracy, but also features a perpetual calendar that independently
recognizes the different lengths of the months, as well as the leap day
occurring every four years.
IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition «Laureus Sport for Good Foundation»
The elegant Ingenieur Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good
Foundation” (Ref. IW323909), with its three hands, is a classic in the
Ingenieur watch family and features a timeless, distinctively clear
design together with protection against magnetic fields. The sporty
timepiece far exceeds the Swiss standards laid down for protection
against magneticfields in watches. The chunky, screw-in crown is
generously sized and shielded by solid protective shoulders. Despite its
elegant appearance, the Ingenieur Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for
Good Foundation” is thus extremely functional, robust and suitable for
everyday use. One of the hallmarks of the Laureus special editions,
along with their blue dial, is the engraving on the case back.
Iwc Vintage Ingenieur Automatic 1955 Laureus IW323310
The Ingenieur Automatic Edition Laureus Sport For Good Foundation in
stainless steel with a dial in an unmistakable shade of blue is limited
to 1,000 watches. In keeping with a revered tradition, IWC Schaffhausen
once again organized a children’s drawing competition within the
projects supported by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation worldwide.
The winning design is engraved on the back of the watch of the special
edition. This year, the jury chose the illustration by eightyear-old
Sohel Abrar Khan from Mumbai, who is part of the Laureus supported Magic
Bus project. The young boy interpreted the theme of the competition,
“Time for Unity”, with a picture showing seven young people who have
gathered for a game of football.
2018 new IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation”
The IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XVIII Edition “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation”
(Ref. IW324703), a limited edition of 1,500 pieces, features a 41-mm
black ceramic case, fronted by a convex, nonreflective sapphire crystal
and sealed by an engraved titanium caseback and a screw-down crown. The
vibrant blue color used for its dial is a signature of IWC’s special
editions for Laureus, and the luminescent coating used on the
sword-shaped black hour and minute hands ensures excellent nighttime
readability. The engraved image on the caseback, as on previous IWC
Laureus editions, reproduces the winning entry of a children’s drawing
competition that IWC organizes in cooperation with the Laureus Sport for
Good Foundation, a charity that supports more than 100 programs
worldwide to use “the power of sport” to affect positive social change.
This year’s winning drawing, chosen from more than 1,000 submissions, is
by 11-year-old Ana Claudia from Brazil.
Inside the case, protected against magnetic fields by a soft iron inner
case, ticks the movement, IWC’s automatic Caliber 35111, with 25 jewels,
a 28,800-vph frequency, and a 42-hour power reserve. The antimagnetic
protection is a historical hallmark of IWC’s Pilot’s Watches, which were
built to withstand the conditions inside a cockpit; other
aviator-friendly features include the hacking seconds function, which
allows the wearer to easily synchronize the watch with a reference
signal, and the securing of the sapphire crystal from sudden drops in
air pressure. The watch comes on a black calfskin strap with an embossed
pattern and retails for $5,650. Part of the proceeds from sales will be
used to support the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
